Manchester City vs Brighton, live! Score, updates, how to watch, stream

Manchester City are hoping their time outside the top of the Premier League table will be limited to 24 hours and the obstacle to that desire is Brighton and Hove Albion (watch live at 3pm ET on Wednesday online through Peacock Premium).

The Seagulls are missing important players in Yves Bissouma and Jakub Moder but will feel good after strong performances against Arsenal and Chelsea.

But Man City will see their season targets refocused after exiting the FA Cup with a loss to Liverpool. Now trailing by two points ahead of this game in hand against Liverpool, Pep Guardiola’s men will be ready to reclaim their place at the top of the table.

Manchester City v Brighton live analysis! – By Nick Mendola

82′ – HUOOOOOOAAALLL!!! Man City’s high press is pissing off Sanchez and the Seagulls, and this one is over as Bernardo Silva makes a tough 3-0 finish too easy.

66′ – HUOOOOOOAAALL!!!! Sometimes you need to get a rebound, and Man City now have two. Phil Foden got his 12th of the Premier League season on a drive well outside the box that winds inside the posts.

61′ — SAVE. Man City are chasing the second goal that would look like a death knell, and De Bruyne’s shot from distance stings Sanchez’s hands… but it’s just the Brighton keeper.

53′ – HUOOOOAAALLLL!! — De Bruyne’s powerful dribble brushes past a few Brighton defenders and ricochets off Mahrez, whose shot takes a turn on its way to a 1-0 Manchester City carry out.

52′ — City close in as Kevin De Bruyne’s low corner kick is almost bounced inside the far post by Riyad Mahrez. Another bend, but it leads nowhere. 0-0.

46′ — It’s time for Ruben Dias to come back from a long hamstring injury! City’s best centre-back clears Nathan Ake, who was not at his best in the first 45 minutes.

excl. tax — What will City do at the break? If we’re being honest, it’s just a matter of finding the right incisive combo to land more dangerous shots towards Sanchez’s goal. This game has been almost all City, but the draws won’t do anything for them at this time of year. Could we see Raheem Sterling or Jack Grealish soon?

excl. tax — MAN CITY 0, BRIGHTON 0 — Man City have rarely looked like a side ready to concede, but a few late set pieces will give the Seagulls hope. Otherwise, it was all one-sided: City had 66% of the ball and attempted all seven shots in the game. Problem? Only one happened to Sanchez.

38′ — City remain frustrated with the constant grabbing of the Brighton side, who are packed and challenge the referees to call every tug. But the odds on the counter don’t come as City guided the Seagulls away from the lineup. But wait, Brighton’s high pressure leads to a corner kick…dealed.

28′ — GREAT SAVING!! Robert Sanchez smashes to put a paw on Bernado Silva’s 17-yard strike, but he still has some work to do to stop Phil Foden from spinning and pulling the rebound on goal. Not how Brighton drafted it, but 0-0 is 0-0…

19′ — WOW! Robert Sanchez gave the ball to the wrong team, but Riyad Mahrez seems bamboozled by the opportunity and Moises Caicedo closes the Algerian.

12′ — TIGHT: Brighton are in a compact formation that lines up three centre-backs behind three active but defensive midfielders. Enock Mwepu and Alexis Mac Allister certainly have attacking chops but today the chances they take will be limited.

City of Man team news, injuries, roster options

Gabriel Jesus should be fit for selection, but Kyle Walker (ankle) and Cole Palmer (ankle) are a bit more touchy.

Brighton team news, injuries, roster options

The Seagulls will be without influential midfielder Yves Bissouma after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season and Jakub Moder has been out for a long time with his knee injury. Shane Duffy and Steven Alzate will also be absent.
