Family, fun and flight ready to fly again
“These guys put a lot of work into building their aircraft in some cases. Some of them came out of zero and others for years and years ”, explains Tricia Nardari, member of the organizing committee. “There is a lot of pride in the aviation community in Medicine Hat and the opportunity to show people who wouldn’t normally see it will be a highlight.
Nardari also says people can fly on a sightseeing tour.
She says it’s a 15 minute tour around town. Three passengers are allowed on each flight for a fee of $ 25.
“It gives you the opportunity to see Medicine Hat from a perspective that a lot of people haven’t seen,” she says. “And it’s really fun and it’s a really good opportunity to encourage and motivate and get kids excited about flying and you know the whole point of the program is to have people looking to the air. future, especially kids and who see aviation as a career because there are so many different options and that’s what we love to be able to present.
There will also be exhibits from the Medicine Hat Aviation Historical Society, HALO Air Ambulance and CanWest will be on hand with their medical plane and other organizations like the Medicine Hat Police and Fire Services will also be part of the day.
The committee has been working on this weekend’s event for two years, Nardari said.
After the former president passed away a few years ago, the event fell through and Nardari said this weekend was kind of a throwback to the community.
